April has been Caesarean Awareness month. Much of the news this week has been about maternal request for caesarean. Nice Guidance suggests discussing overall risks and benefits along with alternative options and if vaginal birth isn’t a suitable option offering a planned Caesarean section.

ACOG updated its committee opinion on postpartum care suggesting ‘all women have contact with their ob-gyns or other obstetric care providers within the first three weeks postpartum’ with timely follow up particularly important for women with chronic medical conditions.
